Fearce: A Bold, Unapologetic Display Font
Where to Use Fearce — and Where to Pause
- Long headlines with more than five words (spacing tightens unpredictably)
- Lowercase paragraph settings (the lowercase rhythm slows down readability)
- Digital ads under 300px wide (test at actual device size — some glyphs lose clarity)
- Supporting text next to script font or handwritten font (it can overwhelm unless deliberately contrasted)
Practical Designer Notes — Tested, Not Assumed
- Test it in pure black on white — then reverse it. Some display fonts collapse in negative space; Fearce holds structure.
- Print a 12pt sample on your intended substrate (kraft paper, matte vinyl, fabric label) — check for ink spread or loss of fine detail.
- Compare uppercase vs. lowercase usage in your layout. Uppercase Fearce reads faster and carries more impact in logos and posters.
- Review kerning pairs manually — especially “AV”, “To”, and “Wa”. Most defaults are solid, but a few need nudging for tight tracking.
- Mock it beside at least three contrast types: a sturdy serif font (e.g., Merriweather), a humanist sans serif font (e.g., Inter), and a relaxed script font (e.g., Salted). Fearce gains dimension when juxtaposed — it’s not meant to stand alone in a system.
- Confirm commercial licensing. Fearce is a premium font, and while personal use is straightforward, client deliverables require clear rights — especially for digital products, Canva templates, or Cricut-ready design assets.
